nostalgic landmarks from our past:

94 Upper East Coast effin ROAD!!! Still the same building..!!!

This is the side of the building where Grandy used to park his car. The garage is gone, but I think the mango tree in the background (not the one in front) is the very same one U. Rod use to climb to get mangos while being eaten alive by red ants!!!

The end of the street towards Singhas house:

This is the road near "Mary's hill" and the old reclaimed land:

you can see what used to be the reclaimed land in the background:

This is where we used to fly kites and slide down the hill on cardboard:

Arrived in Singapore today... Jason, A. Rose and U. Rob were nice enough to pick me up. Some pix of us in A. Lornas Clementi Park condo where I am staying.

Final tour around Phuket...then off to Singapore...

OK so I enjoyed my touring around on the scooter so I went on another trip to check out Kata and Karon beaches :

Similan Islands national park....

The Similan islands (english bastardised name from Sembilan Islands i.e 9 islands in Malay) decided to do this trip because I wanted some decent snorkelling and the last trip was a bust for the snorkelling. This one did not disappoint, although I felt there was not enough time..about 35 minutes at each site. Later though, when I looked at my fried back...I realized that 70 minutes was Puh.lenty!!

Venturing out of Potong...

Well being somewhat disenchanted by Potong I decided to get out and see more of the island..so I did it on two wheels with a Honda Scooter. Frankly riding here seems a bit crazy, but you soon learn to adapt to the rules of the road. It all seems to work . Those who know me know I normally gear up to ride, but this time all I was wearing was a tee shirt, shorts, flip flops and my Thai manufactured crash helmet.. ai caramba...!!!

This was my trusty steed:

Of course it has about 65 HP less then my bike at home, but for the road conditions here it is plenty and there were many nice twisty roads that I enjoyed. I headed north to explore some of the other beaches on Phuket and to find some more relaxed areas. I ended up at Lampang beach which is really lovely:

It also had a nice restaurant:

Not that cheap, lunch cost me $15

This was the view from the restaurant:

After lunch a swim, chilled out on the beach for an hour and headed down beach road:

I headed to Naithon beach next:

Check out the villas on the hill, imagine waking up to that view every day.. stunning. But I suppose it would get boring eventually lol...such is life.:

More Naithorn:

Then I got lost down some road and ended up at this abandoned hotel. I think it was abandoned as it was in a Tsunami danger zone (what isn't here though)

Phuket......The Good the Bad and the UGLY!!!

Ok so I arrived in Phuket, and I had booked a hotel in Potong which is where center of tourism

My hotel:

is, of course it is also the center of debauchery.. and frankly... a bit of a *hit hole. This is the beach:

Looks like a white trash convention on the beach....

here is the strip:

What would any trip to Potong be without a ladyboy pic:

It's really incredible just how "pretty" some of them are...but just a quick hint, beware of tall girls in Thailand. It's a bummer to see a hot girl and then suddenly realize she is well he is er .... whatever.

The strip is has "soi's" which are alleys filled with beer bars and bar girls.. as you walk through the soi they all say WEWCOME!!!!.....to try and get you to come to their bar... after a while it's a bit irritating.. this is a pic of Soi Tiger:

So after deciding Potong is a *hit hole I decided to explore Phuket more. .....
